Information
It's a job in itself keeping your business at the cutting edge of its industry, let alone trying to keep on top of what's going on in the local, national and global economies. Even if you do manage to catch the news it's invariably a snippet of the whole story and not sufficient information for you to grasp the facts and apply the information to your own business.
Take local government as an example, changes happen and new policies are born all the time, and often we have the opportunity to have an influence in them, but having not received sufficient information prior to a new policy being given the go ahead, the first you’ll know of it is when it starts affecting your business. The Chamber is in regular contact with the Town, Borough and County Councils and receives news and information regarding any proposed changes or additions in policy and in turn, keeps its members informed.
Bury St Edmunds Chamber of Commerce also provides its members with regular bulletin updates of all issues affecting businesses in the local economy as well as providing information on the economy at large. Further to this, and to eliminate any speculation, we'll ask our members about issues they're facing so we can get an accurate feel for the local business climate without the media theatrics.
