Green Business

Do you think that green commerce is just another fad, a media bandwagon or that it is only endorsed by tree-hugging hippy types? Well, you wouldn't be the first.

But what if we told you that going green could help you to do the things that most of us spend our lives trying to achieve? All of us wish we were more attractive, and wish for fame, fortune and success - don't we?

  • More attractive - Both business customers and individuals are becoming more and more discerning and ethical spending is on the up. By being green you provide you customers with an attractive reason to do business with you
  • Fame - Being green can be something that your customers recognise you for and can differentiate you from the competition.
  • Fortune - Being green will save you money. Less energy, consumables etc. used means less money to shell out which means more money in your pocket.
  • Success - Well, if you are more attractive, are clearly recognised over and above your competition and are more profitable then it stands to reason that you will be more successful.

Once upon a time it was unimaginable that whether an egg was free range or not, would play any part in a customer's decision making, but now it's widely accepted as a primary consideration. Consumer awareness of green issues and more widespread ethical spending is moving in the same direction and it starting to affect the choices individuals and businesses make.

It also makes serious business sense. Saving energy saves you money and protects your bottom line. Simple. However, this is only one of many ways that you can improve your profitability and unlike many money-saving-initiatives, there is often no outlay at all and it’s completely painless. It's just a case of operating a little smarter and following a re-cycle, reuse and reduce methodology.

Membership of West Suffolk Green Business Forum is now included in Chamber Membership and this organisation is here to help you make sense of the 'green issue'. It will provide you with information, advice and tips to help you achieve your green ambitions.
