New Chairman for Chamber

The Chamber held its Annual General Meeting on 28^th April 2010 when Rick Wildridge, MD of Haldo Developments, stood down after two years as Chairman, during which he has devoted a huge amount of his time and energy to the Chamber.  Rick said “I think we have a fantastic town and good businesses in this area and I have really enjoyed helping to put something back into the community.” Rick becomes Honorary President of the Chamber.

Andrew Denny, Managing Director of Fix-a-Form International Ltd, part of the Denny Bros Group replaced Rick Wildridge as Chairman. 

Andrew was born in Bury St Edmunds and is a qualified engineer and Chartered Accountant.  The Denny Bros Group includes retail, property, printing, and engineering businesses, serving local, national and international markets.  With such broad business interests Andrew has an insight into a wide range of issues affecting Chamber members of all sizes.  Andrew said, “with the recently opened arc, plans for the Corn Exchange and the Market Cross, potential local government re-organisation and the current state of the economy, there are numerous areas where local businesses need to have their voices heard.  There has never been a more important time to have a strong Chamber of Commerce.”  Andrew has a particular interest in education and intends to further the Chamber’s involvement with local schools.

Colin Knight, of Ashton Graham Solicitors is the new Vice Chairman of the Chamber.  Colin has acted as Company Secretary for the last three years and is looking forward to his new role. 

Clive Wadham-Smith, of Rudlings and Wakelam Solicitors has been appointed new Company Secretary.Other new members of the Chamber Board of Directors are Robert Houlton-Hart, of Barker Storey Matthews, making a welcome return to the board, and Steve Magnall, of Greene King.  Steve has also joined the Executive Committee of the Green Business Forum, which held its AGM at the same time.
