Bury St Edmunds Chamber prides itself on recognising the needs of the local business community and using its collective force to realise solutions.

As well as the overall Executive Committee, the Chamber has sub-committees; The Chamber Activities Group, Transport Committee, Education Committee and Environment Committee who all input into their committee subject locally.

Transport:
The Transport Committee is Chaired by Rick Wildridge of Haldo Developments. The committee looks into the provision and improvements of existing transports systems in and around Bury St Edmunds. Current projects in progress included the provision of a railway halt close to the site of the new Public Service Village and Asda site in Bury St Edmunds to improve public transport services for commuters in the town. The committee is also currently looking at the feasibility of a park and ride scheme to aid shoppers and visitors to the town.

Education:
The Education Committee is Chaired by Andrew Denny of Denny Bros Ltd.

Environment: Green Business Forum Membership is included in Chamber Membership. See GBF further information.

Chamber Activities Group:
The Chamber Activities Group is Chaired by Executive Team Member, Richard Bradbury of RB Web Design. The Chamber Activity Group arranges regular networking events for its members and the bulk of its activities can be observed in our Events Calendar. Recent successful events include the popular First Friday Club Meetings, Christmas Ball, visit to Stansted to view the expansion plans and the visit to the Houses of Parliament.

Representation:
As well as the 'in-house' team of committees, the Chamber is also represented locally on a number of external committees.

Impact Management Group
A committee formed to monitor and control the impact of the new arc development, on local business.

Town Centre Management
An organisation representing the local business community encompassing crime management, marketing, commerce, and town improvement. Protecting the interests of all business, retail and otherwise, within Bury St Edmunds Town Centre.

Christmas Fayre Working Group
The organisers of Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre - a prestigious events encouraging tourism and footfall within Bury St Edmunds throughout December.

Christmas Lights
Independent committee overseeing the installation of the Christmas Lights and the associated switch on ceremony and late night shopping events with a view to enhancing vibrancy and commerce in the town centre over the profitable festive period.

West Suffolk Local Strategic Partnership
A partnership between public and private sector which identifies and implements social and economic improvements

Suffolk Local Chambers
Sharing best practice and local learning through a conglomerate body of Suffolk's many local chambers.
